Club Volleyball Tournaments: How to Find the Right Events for Your Team
The Club Volleyball Tournament Maze
Club volleyball season is intense. Between qualifiers, regional events, and national championships, teams need to plan their tournament schedule carefully. But finding all the options in one place? Nearly impossible.
The volleyball tournament world is split across multiple organizations, each with their own events and registration systems.
The Major Players
- AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) — runs a massive volleyball program with events nationwide, culminating in AAU Nationals
- USAV (USA Volleyball) — the national governing body, sanctions events through regional associations
- JVA (Junior Volleyball Association) — growing alternative to USAV with their own tournament circuit
- Independent organizers — hundreds of clubs and organizations running their own invitational events
Each of these has their own website, their own calendar, and their own search tools. None of them show you events from the other organizations.
Why This Matters
A 14U club team planning their season might have 50+ tournament options. But to find them all, the coach needs to check AAU's site, their USAV region's calendar, JVA's event list, and then Google for independent events in their area.
This wastes hours every season — hours that could be spent coaching, practicing, or just living life.
The Solution We're Building
At Tourney Hunter, we built an automated tournament search for hockey that tracks 900+ events across 39 sources. We're bringing the same technology to volleyball.
One search across AAU, USAV, JVA, and independent events. Filter by age, location, and skill level. Get alerts for new tournaments. Never miss a registration deadline.

Planning Your Tournament Season
Until we launch, here are some tips:
- Know your organization — if your club is USAV-affiliated, start with your regional USAV calendar
- Check AAU early — AAU events are popular and fill up fast, especially qualifiers
- Talk to your club director — they usually have relationships with tournament organizers and know which events are worth attending
- Budget realistically — between entry fees, travel, and hotels, tournament volleyball adds up quickly
- Consider location variety — playing in different venues against unfamiliar teams is where real growth happens
