“Our favorite for my son has been Lake Placid, which was a Can/Am tournament. You obviously have the history there (and they held an open skate for players and family on the 1980 rink, which was fun for me). But the town is also nice and our hotel was across from the rink on the edge of the small downtown area. I parked my car at the hotel when we got there and didn't have to drive again until we left. Some hotels might be a little farther, but still within a couple of minutes driving - you're probably not staying at some hotel 20 miles away.”
